Why Face Fit Testing is Crucial?

Wearing a mask or respirator is pivotal across various industries to shield against airborne hazards. Yet, the effectiveness of these devices hinges on their perfect fit. Even the tiniest gaps can jeopardise your safety.

Qualitative Face Fit Testing method:

• A simple taste test that can be used to test disposable or reusable half mask respirators only.

• The qualitative face fit test is a subjective test, we are relying on an honest response from the test subject and their ability to detect a taste.

Our Comprehensive Qualitative Face Fit Testing Offers:

• Expert Guidance: We provide extensive guidance on the correct wear and maintenance of your mask, ensuring optimal functionality.

• Routine Reassessments: We strongly advise regular retesting to ensure that your RPE continues to fit securely, considering that facial features can change over time.

Before the test:

• Ensure that you arrive on-time for your fit test. Your scheduled time will be confirmed in your booking, and we recommend that you arrive 5 minutes early.

• You must be cleanly shaven. This means you must shave on the morning before the fit test. If you are not cleanly shaven, we will refuse to carry out the test. The full Test Fee will still be applicable in this event.

• DO NOT eat or drink anything other than water for at least 30 minutes before your test.

• Do not smoke for at least 15 minutes before the test.

• You must bring your own respirator to the test with you (or you can purchase them on the day from us). If you use disposable respirators, it must be new, unused and in the original packaging. If you use reusable respirators, it must be in good condition and well maintained. Respirators to be tested must be fitted with particle (dust) filters.

Delegates successfully completing the Face Fit Test will receive a signed, dated Face Fit Test Record Sheet on the day of the Test. This is included in the cost of the Test.
